R Secret Wap May Spot
Hello!  Welcome, FINALLY, to our 2001 fillies' page!  The first and last fillies, April and May, respectively, are by Mister and out of our mares, Dancing Cherub (Jewel) and R Plaudit's Calico Cloud (Calico).  The second 2001 filly, Josie's Secret,  is by Mister and out of an outside mare, For Josie. I must thank, in advance, my brother-in-law, Alan, for taking the pictures of May for me.  Thanks, Alan!
So, on with the introductions!
This is R Secret Grai April Fool, or April, as we call her (I know, an original name).   :)
April was born on April 1st, with no Appaloosa coat patterns, hence her name.  I was at a show when she was born, and all Jeff could say was, "you're going to be disappointed."  Color-wise, I was, but personality-wise, I could not have asked for a better foal.  She is just like her mother, Jewel (grey, too!).  She will make anyone a great happy appy.  We were able to register her with regular papers since she has striped hooves, mottled skin, and white sclera on both eyes.  (The sclera is the part on our eyes that is white, also.  Most breeds have brown scleras; check it out next time you're eye-to-eye with a horse!)
Our next pride and joy is ...
R Secret Wap May Spot, or May, as we call her (I know, another original name;  they just keep coming!!).
May was born on May 17th, while I was at work, and all Jeff could say was, "you're going to be disappointed."  Hey, I had already heard that.  I wanted to hear something else!
Yes, again I was, color-wise, but body-wise I was not.  She is a looker, even without the much-wanted spots.
We were able to register her, also, with regular papers since she has striped hooves, mottled skin, and white sclera on both eyes.  She is also starting to get white hairs in some areas on her rump, so maybe she will have spots!  (Apploosas have been known to develop chracteristics up to 14 years of age.  I hope it does not take May that long.)

April at 8 months old.  My son took this picture.  Thanks, Joe!
May at 3 1/2 months old.  All she wanted to do was go back to Mom!
Both our fillies, April and May, were tied up at 2 days old while moms were fed.  They lead (walk and trot), tied, trailered, picked up their hooves, trimmed, clipped, bathed, and were a joy to have around. They never kicked or bit, so the kids loved hanging on and loving on them!  It helped make the fillies better animals, too.  They were also conditioned to being around the Bobcat, go-cart, and bicycles!  They are just about bomb-proof, thanks to Joseph!
All three fillies are out of nice blood lines on both sides (you may view Mister's pedigree on the previous page).  Both April and May are Foundation Pedigree Designated (April is 83%, and May is 77%), and Mister and April and May are paid up in the Appaloosa Breeders' Trust.
The Breeders' Trust is an incentive program for showing your horse.  If you had bought one of these fillies, showed her at any Appaloosa show and earned points, then you and I would each receive a check at the end of the year, according to how many points were earned and how many people participated in the program that year.   The foals are eligible to participate up to their 5th year of age.   I believe it's really a neat deal.

Josie's Secret
This is Josie's Secret.  Her mom, For Josie, was a beautiful bay Thoroughbred mare off the track, owned by Judy Glynn.  Alana Krider, the proud owner of Josie's Secret, moved Secret, as she calls her, to Caliornia at the end of September, 2001.  Secret was born in Oklahoma on May 4th, and she sure found the markings we were looking for!  She is the same color as Mister, and certainly has his face markings, too.
Alana is planning on using Secret in the western and English fields. She is hoping for an all-around horse like her Appaloosa mare, Josie, she had 20 years ago.  I know Secret can be all Alana is wanting, and more!  I have faith in them!!

Gypsy May (Gypsy) is now owned by Jill Rizk of Wenatchee, Washington, where she arrived on January 13th, 2002.  I am very happy to say Gypsy is everything Jill was looking for, and can hardly wait to start riding her!   Gypsy has been working cattle, trail riding, jumping, practicing dressage, and just plain old being a joy.  Jill (along with much persuasion and support from her close horsey friends) will probably be doing some jumping (hopefully!), besides the English and lots of trail riding.  Jill told me Gypsy is jumping big rocks at her place, as opposed to the easier way of going around them.  I am so glad to hear that!

Well, it didn't take her that long for her to develop color; this is her, now, at 5 years old!  Striking!
