Welcome to our 2002 filly's page! This is R Secretary Zoom Zoom, by our stallion Secret Mr BarReed (Mister), and out of our mare Dancing Cherub (Jewel). She is a full sister to our last year's filly, R Secret Grai April Fool.
Zoom, as we call her, was born on May 1st, 2002. Just like the last two fillies, Jeff, my husband, was the lucky one to see the new born before me, and he was finally able to give me a description of a foal I had put an order in for! Zoom is a red dun with a huge star, stripe, and snip that travels way under her under lip. She has one right rear sock, and about a dozen snowflakes on her rump. She is a sweet heart and a smart, quick learner. She is built very well (much like her sire).
I picked her name for a couple different reasons. First, her sire's great grand sire was Secretariat, a very famous Thoroughbred race horse. Second, her dam's grand sire was Mr Spotted Bull, a very famous Appaloosa race horse. The R is for Rumpsa, Secretary is for Secretariat, and Zoom Zoom is because we feel she has the potential to run like her ancestors!
Our plans were to keep her for a couple of years and campaign her. I believe she will do well in the show ring and out. She has already shown us she is a willing jumper, and she was in her first parade on July 1st, 2002, in Desoto, Missouri. Zoom trailers wonderfully, too. I can tell she will be a perfect steed for many! She is paid up in the Breeders' Trust. Zoom has earned a point in hunter in hand mares this year.
One of my dear jumping Happy Appy friends, Julie Cobb, showed interest in her at 6 weeks of age. Julie is now the proud owner of this wonderful filly, and enjoying her to her fullest. Julie recently wrote a little note to me: "...I also want to let you know that I admire you for all you do for your horses and the Appaloosa breed. And please know that Zoom is very loved and will continue showing in th
e tradition of Mister." Enjoy! Zoom has been ponied in Missouri and Kentucky, doing a lot of trail riding with Julie, getting ready for future endeavors. Julie tells me Zoom in being an angel for her; I wouldn't expect anything less!
Here, Zoom was a week over 2 1/2 months old, and at her first show. She behaved very well for me, and placed first! She even won a halter!!
In the picture, below, from right to left are: Zoom and Julie Cobb, Jewel (Zoom's dam) and Joe Rumpsa, Mister (Zoom's dad) and Kim Rumpsa, R Secret Anniversary (Jake, Zoom's younger brother), and R Plaudit's Claico Cloud (Calico, Jake's dam) and Anna Newell. We had just finished a nice trail ride at Greensfelder Park, in Eureka, Missouri the first week in October, 2003. Zoom was ponied off one of Julie's horses, and Jake was ponied off Mister most the time, and Calico some of the time. It was a great time!!
